Sewing Machine Skills Training
SAEM takes women through a 6-month program providing them with sewing machine skills in order to improve their job prospects and economic outlook.
Sharing the Gospel by Improving Lives
SAEM is partnering with two churches in southern India to sponsor the Sewing Machine Skills Training Ministry. This valuable training is made available to women in order to equip them with valuable job skills that enable them to earn needed income to improve their families lives. Women are taken through a six-month program and upon completion are awarded a certificate that can be presented to prospective employers. Women can also earn income from home by meeting tailoring needs in their communities. Efforts are being made to provide as many graduating women as possible with take-home sewing machines. The microeconomic model is being used in this initiative as women are expected to pay back the $130 (USD) cost of the sewing machine setup (machine, table, chair) over a very reasonable amount of time so that the money can be used to purchase more sewing machines for take-home use. This ministry approach is showing much potential for building bridges for sharing the gospel in the lives, families, and communities of Hindu, Muslim, and gypsy women.
